When was TrinSurvivors founded?

What does TrinSurvivors do?
We work to raise awareness about the prevalence and pervasiveness of sexual violence at Trinity College.
If I submit a story, will TrinSurvivors maintain my privacy?
Absolutely. As survivors, we understand the importance of anonymity and how scary it can be to put traumatic experiences out for the world to see. Keeping this mind, we put multiple measures in place to protect the identities of the survivors that submit their stories. Our anonymous submission form allows survivors to maintain their anonymity while also providing a space for them to share their experiences.
There's a place on the submission form to write down my assailant's name. What do you do with this information? Do you publish it?
Our goal when we created this platform was to provide a space for survivors to share their stories in as much, or as little, detail as they feel comfortable with. From personal experiences, we found that it can be liberating for survivors to name their assailants even if that information is not made public. Due to legality issues, we are unable to publish these names and would never do so without a survivor's permission in the first place.
When we receive the names of perpetrators, we add it to our database of perpetrators. This database includes information such as graduation year, major, Greek Life membership, athletic participation, and extracurricular involvement among other things.
When you receive a perpetrator's name do you report them?
In short, no. We would never do anything with a perpetrator's name without the permission or request from a survivor. Our main priority is to protect survivors and we would never do anything to compromise their safety, comfort, or general wellbeing. Reporting an assault can be deeply traumatic for survivors and we would never want to further limit their autonomy over the experience.

About Us

We are a collective of survivors with different backgrounds, stories, perspectives, and aspirations. We are committed to improving Title IX resources, holding perpetrators accountable, and fostering an environment that condemns rape culture and supports survivors wholeheartedly. Trinity College’s Title IX policies have repeatedly failed to aid survivors in the moments when they need it most. Since our founding, TrinSurvivors has been able to provide a voice for over 250 anonymous survivors on campus. There is no “right” way to talk about sexual assault but change can only happen when we break the silence surrounding this epidemic. We believe there is profound value in advocacy for survivors, by survivors, and intend to continue advocating for survivors until real, tangible change is implemented.
